I keep telling them….

They could get out with the pack and livestock earlier if they’d quit messing around and eat🙄 Opie is the only one who listens.

****SOLD**** Jubilee Is Looking For Her Forever Home

Jubi is a 3 year old spayed female ¾ Spanish Mastiff and 1/8 each Anatolian Shepherd and Maremma cross looking for a new job and family. She has experience with sheep, goats and chickens. She is the best poultry guardian I’ve ever seen, she even sleeps with her chickens if given the opportunity. I have seen her chase hawks away numerous times, other predators don’t even make an effort. She is also good with other livestock animals but her real love seems to be chickens. Jubi needs to either be an only dog or the only female as she is a queen bee and just doesn’t tolerate other females, but gets along well with all our male dogs. She’s a big girl, about 33” at the shoulder and was 170 lbs at her last vet visit. Interested parties can contact me at hoofandfang@gmail.comimg_1881img_2317

Fondue (Fawni) is For Sale

Unfortunately, Fawni’s buyer was not able to take her puppy at the last minute, so we are looking for her forever home. Fawni was born 2/16/17 so is 13 weeks old from the current Sele x Oso litter. She weighs 51 lbs. and is UTD on all vaccinations and worming, she had her first vet visit and received her health certificate on May 1st. Fawni currently spends her days with her parents, and other pack members on our ewe and lamb pasture, and is in daily contact with chickens who also free range in that pasture. She is a large, confident girl, and thanks to her experiences in our pack has a pretty good idea of what her job will be as she grows. Fawni would do well in an existing pack, and we are looking for a home where she will have plenty of interaction with humans, other dogs, and livestock. Below, is a video of Fawni with her dad Oso (really blowing coat!) and some still shots. If you would like more information on her and an application, please email us here: hoofandfang@gmail.com

Today 5/17/17

Today is Chili’s last day with our pack, he will be heading to CA tomorrow to join Lynn and Mike Hodson’s pack, where he will meet his two half sisters Juju and Kai. Here is a photo of Chili with two of his favorite playmates and two videos. The first is just Chili being cute, and the second is Chili and his mama playing together….well Chili getting rolled around by his mama might be more accurate. The top photo, is the one that means the most to me. Our dogs here are very protective of their puppies. Until they reach somewhere around 4 months old, puppies are not normally allowed to spend a lot of time hanging around our fencelines, particularly our gates. If a pup catches the attention of an older dog they will usually run them off. Our Great Pyrenees, Thor began a tradition, or ritual that started with Sele and Violet and continues with every puppy who reaches that age here. Today I happened to look outside and saw Sele, Besi, and Brava with Cersei and Chili very deliberately walking the fence line, I grabbed a jacket and headed out there, but all I got was this one photo of the girls coming back and Chili sitting in front of the gate. However I feel fortunate to have caught at least the tail end of this cool doggie tradition. I’m also surprised that Chili was invited along at this age, he’ll be 12 weeks old tomorrow. It is almost like they know he is leaving in the morning and decided to give him a fabulous send off. Good luck in your new home Chili, we will look forward to hearing about your new adventures and watching you grow into the wonderful guardian you were bred to be!

Geeze, Where Do I Start? How About New Puppy Owner Introductions!

Because we have so much fun stuff going on here this month, it’s difficult to know where to start! I decided a good place would be to introduce our new puppy owners! So here they are, congratulations everyone 😊

They will all be working on the family ranch guarding sheep, pigs and other assorted livestock and poultry. We also expect to see some gorgeous puppies with a fantastic work ethic coming from the Clark’s in the future!

Cindy will be going to Steven and Laura Lopez in Visalia CA. The Lopez family also own Holly de Duelos y Quebrantos, our Brava’s lovely half sister!

IMG_4080
Nacho will be embarking on a very different path with his new owner Clover in Washington state, we cannot wait to post updates on their adventures. If the gorgeous photos I’ve seen so far are any indication, we are in for quite a treat!

IMG_4076

Wasabi will be joining Sarah Keiser and family of the lovely Wild Oat Hollow Farm in Penngrove, CA along with their dog Dash, guarding sheep, goats and poultry.

Oh and if anyone is wondering….Little Miss Marcia will be staying right here with her mom, dad and the rest of the pack.

Puppy and Sheep Videos

This is a series of videos taken yesterday of both litters. If anyone has questions about specific puppies feel free to call or message me. Enjoy😊

Dorito Litter Week Six

Sele and Oso’s litter is now 6 weeks old. They have been wormed 3 times and have had their first vaccinations. They have spent their days with our pack of adult and teenaged dogs, goats and kids, ewes and lambs, chickens, an elderly Scottish Terrier, a young, active Corgi, 4 children under the age of 9, and a very friendly Manx kitty. This will be their life for the next 4 weeks. We still have 3 ewes due to lamb, so unless they are born in the middle of the night, the puppies will have a chance to witness that as well. All 8 puppies are outgoing and very affectionate in their own ways. I will contact each of my puppy buyers to discuss their choices, today. Enjoy the photos!

IMG_4076
Jack knows how to “use his words” you will always know how he feels about any given situation based on the expressive way he uses his voice. Jack is an active guy, and wants to be engaged, he is also one of the first to investigate new things.

IMG_4078
Wasabi is a sweet old soul, he was also the first to exhibit guardian instincts; at 4 weeks old he would posture, growl and bark at anyone who invaded his litters sleeping area. Wasabi is a very affectionate boy!

IMG_4079
Chili is the litters “middle of the road” guy in terms of temperament. He is outgoing and friendly, as well as inquisitive and has a natural tendency to observe before he reacts. He is an athletic, easygoing boy and really, just a very balanced puppy.

IMG_4080
Nacho has already been chosen by his new owner, who drove a long way to meet him! He will be working in a very different atmosphere than the traditional livestock guardian dog, and I am so excited to hear about his adventures!

IMG_4081
Baja is an adventurous girl, she has no problem wandering off from her pack to explore. She is a lovely combination of sweetness and courage, and she’s pretty darn cute too!

IMG_4082
Roulette is the clown of the litter! She loves to use her paws! She will use them to wave hello, to punch a sibling, and she also really likes to greet people with a puppy dance. She also is incredibly alert and takes a very no nonsense approach to new situations.

IMG_4083
Fondue is a beauty! She is a bit more aloof than some of her siblings, and is always aware of her surroundings. She is brave, serious, and can be very affectionate if you go to her. She actually melts for belly rubs.

IMG_4084
Salsa likes to hang out with the big girls! We are most likely to find her hanging out with Brava and Cersei in the pasture, or exploring the property with Marcia, Jan and Cindy. Salsa has a steady personality and is going to grow into a fabulous guardian.

Happy National Puppy Day!

Sele’s Doritos Are 4 Weeks Old, and Are Out With The Pack

The Doritos are now old enough to take their place outside with the rest of the pack and livestock. They are pretty exhausted at the moment as they spent the morning moving, having photos taken and meeting everyone, after a big meal of goats milk and ground beef, they cuddled up with mom and are taking a well earned nap!

Sele’s Doritos 3 Weeks Old and Busy!

Sele’s kids are growing and developing quickly. As you can see in the video, they want out of the puppy pen so they can start to explore. Our grandson spent the weekend with us, and he and the pups had a great time playing on the floor and getting some puppy/kid bonding time in. Later this week they also begin spending time outside with the livestock, cat, chickens and the rest of our now very diverse pack. The next few weeks are going to be such a fun time! Please enjoy this video taken on their 3 week birthday, individual photos will be coming later in the week.
